Jumping Around Diet World!!

I'm 62. Have been overweight my whole life.

Have tried every diet known to man!  Daniels diet, weight watchers (multiple times), Adkins, Keto, Mediterranean, plain low carb, Tuna and beets, Medifast, then Optavia, Cabbage Soup, you name it!!

I'm tired of "being on a diet" and never losing weight! Wonder if anyone else has gone through this?  I want to do it, but can never stick to it.

I truly believe if you stick with ANY diet, it would work.  I just can't maintain for more than 6 months.

About a month ago, my son had me try his diet.  Now, keep in mind he works out every day! Has done it for over 20 years.  Was super strict. Breakfast was good, but the rest of the day, cabbage, rice, chicken, fish, beans. That was it!  I knew I couldn't sustain that.

The idea behind it was zero sugar and counting calories. Output more calories than you consume.  Not a new idea-but I've NEVER counted calories. Never wanted to. But I'm thinking this is my last chance!  I've got to do something. I want to be as healthy as possible on this last phase of my life.

I joined the YMCA. That was my big commitment!!  I love water aerobics. I've been faithful to go 2-3 times per week for a month!! Yeah me!

I've also been tracking my food on my Fitbit app.

I'm going to start my blog back up to help me as well. Thoughts, recipes, what's working.  I want to look back and see how far I've come!!

BECAUSE I'M DOING IT RIGHT THIS TIME!!!!!!!

Accomplishments feel so good!

Well, it's been a little over a week eating Keto, reading my bible and praying.  Have I been perfect??  NO!

BUT, I've done so much better.  I didn't lose as much as I thought I would on my first week of Keto. In looking back, I think I'm eating too many almonds and cheese. I've cut back on that.  The goal is to not eat processed foods-eat whole foods.

That Chaffle maker has been kept hot!  I love that appliance! Is it an appliance?  It's so small! LOL  But it whips up some delicious stuff.  One of my favorites I made Sunday was shredded cheese, thinly sliced onion with more cheese. YUMMMMMM!

I studied in Book of John

6 There was a man sent from God whose name was John. 7 He came as a witness to testify concerning that light, so that through him all might believe. 8 He himself was not the light; he came only as a witness to the light.

9 The true light that gives light to everyone was coming into the world. 10 He was in the world, and though the world was made through him, the world did not recognize him. 11 He came to that which was his own, but his own did not receive him. 12 Yet to all who did receive him, to those who believed in his name, he gave the right to become children of God— 13 children born not of natural descent, nor of human decision or a husband’s will, but born of God.

14 The Word became flesh and made his dwelling among us. We have seen his glory, the glory of the one and only Son, who came from the Father, full of grace and truth.

15 (John testified concerning him. He cried out, saying, “This is the one I spoke about when I said, ‘He who comes after me has surpassed me because he was before me.’”) 16 Out of his fullness we have all received grace in place of grace already given. 17 For the law was given through Moses; grace and truth came through Jesus Christ. 18 No one has ever seen God, but the one and only Son, who is himself God and[b] is in closest relationship with the Father, has made him known.

This whole passage just brought me peace-deep in my heart. I think we all get a lot more grace than we deserve. I know I do. I love being told in God's word that Jesus was full of grace and truth.  He was the only perfect person to ever live. I truly believe that.  So, it's easy for me to believe everything is going to be ok and work out.  God knows exactly what is going on here on earth and he cares so much about His children.  While the world is worrying and wondering what will happen, our FAITH needs to kick in and keep us calm.  Just let God do the worrying.

Have a great day!!

Praying for you!

Building Your Happiness

United Heath Care published a thin little magazine.  It had this fantastic article in there on how being happy is part of living longer.

I wanted to share some of the statements that was made.

Happiness isn't something you chase-it's something you recognize.

Another word for this: Gratitude.  It can be hard to be grateful for things you take for granted.  That's why we come up with ways to remind ourselves to be grateful, like saying grace at meals.

There's actual neuroscience behind this:  Keeping a gratitude journal modifies brain activity.   When people write down 3 good things about their day for a few weeks, their brain chemistry actually changes.  These effects last for months.

My day just started-I'm so grateful for a new day.  God has blessed me with a new day!
I pray I'll be able to share a smile, hug, prayer or kind word with someone today.

I'm grateful for my health.  There are so many of my friends that have 24/7 pain. Who don't rest well. Who are confined to their home. I never want to take my health for granted.

I'm grateful for my warm home.

What are you grateful for?

Have a blessed day!
